On top of the Nokia N95 with 8GB, and the two new versions of the Nokia N81, the giant mobile phone company from Finland also introduced the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic, which is made specially for the music lovers to enjoy.
It has a sleek look with its rounded corners and red plus black combination of colors, only weighing close to 71 grams and an impressive 9.9mm of thickness. One of the important details is the battery life, since music lovers like to listen to music non-stop for long periods of time, the Nokia 5310 can handle 18 hours of music playback.
Other features include a 2-megapixel camera, a microSD memory card slot with a maximum capacity of 4GB, a QVGA screen that measures 2-inches and offers 16 million colors, and last but not least, special keys located on the left side which are dedicated to control the music.
Completing the music focus, the handset features a 3.5mm headphone jack and it’s a nice addition to the model compared to Sony Ericsson’s insistence on forcing you to use an adapter. Of course, as with the N95, we know that the hole will soon fill with pocket lint however.
Those really liking their music can listen to up to 4GB of music via the expandable miroSD slot in the phone and this should give you around 3000 tracks. The battery life will last up to 18 hours although we didn’t have that much time to test whether this is true or not in our brief play.
However real music fans, will be disappointed. The 5310 isn’t one of the new handsets capable of accessing Nokia’s new dedicated music download store also launched at the same event.

The Nokia 5070 is a simple & subtle mobile phone handset which comes with easy to access features. The phone comes in a solid bar designed handset which is 105.4mm tall, 44.3mm wide by 18.6mm in thickness. The 5070 weighs 88 grams which is a lightweight mobile phone for the user to carry at all times. The casing is mainly white in colour & comes with a choice of bright blue or bright red coloured side panels which provides an attractive design. The phone has a user friendly keypad, navigation control & a 65,000 colour CSTN screen.
The phone has a VGA camera, with a Self Timer, featuring video recording. It has a music player and a FM Radio as well. Nokia 5070 is an entertainment phone all way, and the user is never short of that with a Nokia 5070. The camera in the phone can be used to capture still or moving footage. The camera functions allow the user to add frames to the still pictures taken by the camera. The phone comes with integrated music player, which plays MP3, AMP, AAC, eAAC+ & WMA music formats. The FM radio allows the users to tune into their favourite stations at any point of time to enjoy the music, or any other news and sports channel. The phone has polyphonic ring tones, and can play MP3, true tones or MIDI format also.
With a generous amount of the front fascia given over to keys, the screen is necessarily squeezed. I measured it at 1.8 inches corner to corner. It is a CSTN type and delivers just 128 x 160 pixels. These two features mean the screen lacks vibrancy and definition. The 65 thousand colour-count is low too, and between them the screen specifications are uninspiring.
The screen seems to take a millisecond or two to respond to key presses but if you are not coming to this phone from a different and better specified model the lag is probably not going to be noticeable. In the end, if you are just looking for a phone whose primary purpose is making voice calls a fancy screen is probably low among your priorities.
The user can use the voice features of Nokia 5070. Voice commands allow the user to activate functions and controls. The phone has call features which allow the user to avail the answering service, speed dialling, and hands-free call option. The push to talk feature is just like the features found in walkie talkies, where the user keeps the button pushed while talking to the other party, and releasing it, the user gets to listen to the person on the other side. The hands-free feature in the phone allows the user to carry on with the conversation without having the phone in his hand. The phone includes a calculator, clock, alarm

The Nokia 3230 is a budget smartphone. Nokia have tried to pack in as many popular features as possible into this phone, so on paper it sounds great, with a megapixel camera, video recording of up to one hour, MP3 player, Bluetooth wireless games and fast internet access. It also features a compact design and is one of the lightest smartphones available - at 110g it compares well with series 40 phones - and it’s priced to be popular.
The 3230 isn’t a great looker, except in a boxy retro kind of way, but it’s got a sensible keypad and a nice-sized screen. The screen is standard spec for a Nokia smartphone, and feature-wise it’s comparable with most of Nokia’s series 60 phones such as the 6670 or 7610. There are a couple of extras such as the Visual Radio, Push to Talk and Tunes Studio (polyphonic ringtone composer).
Following a tried and true recipe, Nokia’s 3230 comes across as a modestly sized and rather attractive smartphone at 110 g and 109 x 49 x 19 mm. Courtesy of a clever design trick or two, its delightfully bright and crisp 65K colour screen with adjustable brightness comes across as larger than it really is, yet is unable to draw our attention away from a couple of faux pas in the ergonomics department.
Despite excellent tactile feedback, the numerical keypad has been placed too far down on the front of the phone, leading to users having to choose between having the 3230 bobbing madly up and down with every press or choose a higher grip only to have their thumbs uncomfortably strained. Similarly poor, the flush navigational array just below the screen has uncomfortably short and heavy key travel, and combining small button sizes with placing the ‘C’ button right next to two other frequently used buttons isn’t clever at all. As usual, however, Nokia has managed to stick a standout feature among several mediocrities; one of its best joysticks ever sits smack dab in the middle.

The in-built loudspeaker sounded great to my ears as I surfed through FM radio channels. It’s sweet and doesn’t crack at full volume. A volume controller is present on the side. The sound, however, gets muffled when the phone lies flat as the speaker is on its back. The in-flight mode lets you listen to music anytime. The headset which is part of the package is a pleasure to hear as well. The built-in media player plays these formats - MP3/MP4/AAC/AAC+/H.264/WMA.
