Nokia launched a new S40 clamshell media phone today. The 6267, as the device is known, is a quad-band GSM/EDGE handset that also supports UMTS 3G connections on the 2100 and 850MHz frequency bands, meaning that it should work in Europe as well as parts of North America.
The 6267 is aimed at the mid-tier market, and as such focuses on keeping cost, as well as complexity, down. The phone offers dedicated music controls on the exterior of the flip and has a 2 megapixel main camera for taking snapshots. Its microSD memory card slot supports cards as large as 4GB in capacity, which is enough for a lot of photos, videos, and music tracks.
Other standout features on the 6267 include a 16M color main QVGA (240×320) display, a 262k color 128×160 pixel external display, and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity. The Bluetooth system supports A2DP stereo connections, which makes sense for a music friendly phone like the 6267.
Capturing events and playback of video clips and stills for family and friends is also easier and impressive with the new high speed video capability and two cameras, including a 2 megapixel camera with flash and 8X digital zoom. The Nokia 6267 utilizes 3G technology for fast downloads, Internet browsing and video calls. The sleek and compact fold phone also offers a large keypad and high resolution screen, calendar, organizer, and support for up to 4GB of expandable memory to store movie clips, images and music.
One interesting aspect about Nokia 6267 is that it allows the user to take captures both with the case open or closed. All that he has to do is press the side camera button when the shell is closed and the phone automatically displays the camera’s view on the external display. This is possible with photo shots and video recordings as well, all by pressing the side button again to start/stop recording or just to take a photo. There is one disadvantage in this, as there is no additional information displayed other than the camera’s footage. The user cannot know whether the phone is recording or not, for example, while the flash usually gives it away when a picture is taken. I’m not quite sure which the practical side of this capability is, but it’s still a pretty nifty feature.
The 6267 comes with thirty Mbytes of internal memory & with a memory card option which allows the user to extend their phones memory to suit their storage needs. The user can add a MicroSD™ hot swappable memory card to extend the phones memory capabilities up to four Gbytes which provides the user with high volume storage ready for all those fun pictures & video recordings to be stored for future viewings. The Nokia 6267 comes with a fitted battery which provides up to 6.5 hours of talk time or up to 300 hours of standby battery time from a full charge.

The Nokia 6263 is a wonderful 3G phone that supports the fastest UMTS network (UMTS 2100 MHz). Besides that, the flip-style 6263 phone is also a quad-band GSM phone, which means it operates in almost any wireless network in the world. The design of the 6263 is similar to the Nokia 6133, which is also a clamshell phone. Features and specifications of the 6263 include a 2.2-inch QVGA LCD display, a 1.3-megapixel digital camera, built-in digital music player, video recorder, FM radio, and microSD memory expansion slot that supports up to 4GB of memory upgrade.
The 6133’s navigation array is carried over from the 6133. There’s a four-way toggle with a central OK button, two soft keys, and the Talk and End/power controls. There’s no clear/back key, and though the 6263 also lacks dedicated shortcut buttons, you can set the toggle to give one-touch access to four user-defined functions. Also, there’s a secondary shortcuts menu that you can program with your favorite features. And in a change from traditional Nokia style, the End button also turns the phone on and off. On the whole, the navigation array is spacious and tactile, and we like that the toggle is raised above the surface of the phone.
The volume up and down buttons are located on the right side of the 6263, with the camera button positioned directly below. These buttons protrude slightly, but offer enough resistance so that they are not pressed accidentally. The mono speaker is also located at the bottom of the right side of the 6263. The left side of the phone is where you will find the microSD card slot, with an extremely flimsy door that attempts to protect the slot from dust. This small rubbery door is incredibly difficult to open, and feels as though the slightest tug would easily rip it off the phone.

Weight: 3.4 oz
Dimensions: 3.92 x 1.74 x 0.77 in
Display: Active-matrix 240 x 320 pixel (QVGA) 2,0” main display with 16M Colors and Secondary display in 128 x 160 pixel with 262k colors
On the 6555’s front face is the sizeable (1.25 inches, 128×160 pixels) external display. It supports a full 262,000 colors, which put it far ahead of the external screens on most other cell phones. Colors were bright, and it works nicely as a viewfinder to take self-portraits. You can change the wallpaper as well. The camera lens is located just above the screen, while an external speaker is located below it. All three are surrounded by an attractive, silver band.
Flipping open the clamshell reveals a two-inch QVGA screen capable of displaying 16.7 million colors. The phone felt a little flimsy in our hands: The plastic casing was just a bit too easy to bend and ply. We like the tactile keypad, as well as the hot keys for jumping directly to AT&T Music, Cellular Video, and the camera function.
From button design and placement to the phone’s shape while open, the design reflects well thought out ergonomics everywhere. As is common for a clamshell phone, the exterior display on the 6555 can be set to depict an analog clock, which adds an additional layer of class to the phone. Both displays are vivid and easy to read even in bright sunlight. Colors, too, are bright and clear. The primary QVGA (240×320 pixel) display is particularly nice. For wearers of polarized sunglasses, these had little impact on the screen’s legibility which can be a frequent problem with LCD displays and polarized lenses.
ther essentials include a vibrate mode, text and multimedia messaging, an alarm clock, a calendar, a to-do list, a notepad, a calculator, a timer, and a stopwatch. You’ll also find a selection of higher end type offerings, that includes a voice memo recorder; a unit converter; a world clock; voice commands and dialing; a speakerphone; PC syncing feature; POP3 and IMAP4 e-mail support; AOL, Yahoo, and ICQ instant messaging; Bluetooth 2.0. USB mass storage; and support for AT&T’s PTT network (the first such phone since the AT&T name change).
Key Features

- Elegant analogue timepiece standby display not only assures punctuality but also makes a style statement

The 6133’s navigation controls sit below the display. They include a four-way toggle with an OK/menu button at its center, two soft keys, and the Talk and End controls. The toggle can be set to give one-touch access to four user-defined shortcuts. Soft keys can be designated as shortcuts, too. One option even includes a shortcut bar, with a selection of user-defined applications. All this changes, however, if you choose layer T-Mobile’s MyFaves application on the display above your chosen wallpaper. In this case, the right soft key is the only customizable shortcut, while the menu is accessible only through the left soft key. Ergonomically, navigation is easy and the buttons are large, but we did find the flush keys a little slick.
The exterior black casing has a slightly “soft”, almost silicone-like, feel to it, but I’m not particularly pleased with how the front looks when the phone is closed. You see, there is a silver portion of the keypad that shoots out the bottom. I would have preferred a more “all-black” look, while the chrome accents around the camera and external display are certainly acceptable.
Music quality over the single phone speaker was nothing special. As with the 6126, tracks on the 6133 played tinny and somewhat distorted, especially at higher volumes. By all means–use a stereo headset. The phone comes with a serviceable headset, but for really good audio quality, we recommend you use a different headset. A good-looking, decent flip phone, the Nokia 6133 will satisfy most T-Mobile users, as long as they’re okay with that touch of background hiss and don’t want to run Opera Mini or any other free, third-party applications.
