Building upon its belief that entry level handsets can be both attractive and affordable, Nokia today introduced a new handset to its portfolio - the Nokia 2630. In addition to a stylish design, the Nokia 2630 also offers easy-to-use cameras and Bluetooth technology, enabling customers to take their entertainment with them wherever they go. “The progressively stylish design of the Nokia 2630 cellphone offers a striking visual and tactile impact, but also incorporate a feature set designed to enhance the total user experience,” said Soren Petersen, Senior Vice President, Mobile Phones, Nokia. “And by including a camera and Bluetooth technology, we are enabling entry consumers to share their experiences on the go.”
The thinnest handset in Nokia’s portfolio at a mere 9.9 mm, the Nokia 2630 balances a modern design with a full range of features to meet the needs of emerging market consumers. An easy-to-use camera combined with Bluetooth technology allows images to be easily sent, shared, stored and printed. Convenient productivity tools such as email, MMS, calendar and a calculator satisfy the work side of life, while features such as an FM radio, with direct access shortcut key and MP3 ringtones satisfy the entertainment side. The Nokia 2630 will be available in the third quarter of 2007. The estimated price for the Nokia 2630 will be around 85 EUR, excluding taxes and subsidies.
The phone has the standard 128 x 160 pixel TFT display which is not as prominent on this handset as other Nokia phones. The Nokia 2630 Mobile Phone also takes in the likes of Bluetooth, GPRS, SMS and MMS messaging together with email - distancing itself from the much more basic handset in this area of the market. Nokia have taken full advantage of the basic functionality to introduce a battery which offers 6 hours talk time and up to 13 days standby time.
The Nokia 2630 Mobile Phone has been targeted at the developing markets of the world, and possibly the second phone market which is now growing in numbers. They do not hide the functionality of the handset, and while basic, it is sure to offer a good introduction for new phone owners to the ever growing world of Nokia. An interesting handset, which will appeal to the high volume lower end of the market.
