The Nokia 7390 is a compact & sophisticated 3G mobile phone which is a member of the L’Amour Collection designed by Nokia. The mobile handset comes in two colours which are bronze black & powder pink which both have the L’Amour Collection motifs which enhance the sophisticated design. The handset has a sleek fold opening mechanism & comes with dual screens. The external screen provides 262k colours with a screen resolution of 160 x 128 pixels which is a bright & clear viewing tool when the handset is in the closed position. The larger internal screen will display up to 16 million colours on a bright QVGA screen & has a screen resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The Nokia 7390 is a compact 3G broadband mobile phone which measures 90 x 47 x 19 mm which is small considering the built in capabilities. The 7390 weighs 115 grams with the fitted battery & comes with 128 Mbytes of internal memory as well as a MicroSD™ memory slot for memory expansion. The 3G handset comes with a rechargeable fitted battery which will provide approximately two & a half hours worth of talk time & up to two hundred & twenty hours of standby battery time.

This sleek, elegant fold phone, consummately blends precision technology with groundbreaking design. As Nokia’s first 3G fashion phone, the Nokia 7390 combines exquisite materials and design innovation within a fully featured phone. The 3 megapixel camera and WCDMA high-speed connectivity is subtly hidden within ceramic-inspired shell and leather panels. Ideal for a 24/7 lifestyle, the Nokia 7390 is available in two colours, a Bronze Black version provides a masculine feel, echoing cigar parlours and oak-panelled studies of a by-gone era. The Powder Pink model is a daring combination of ceramic white and powder pink, a colour palate currently found on fashion catwalks and furniture fairs. The estimated retail price of the Nokia 7390 is expected to be approximately EUR 450, excluding taxes and subsidies.

Nokia 7380 tackled a wholly unconventional cell phone form factor and the Nokia 7370 (also a L’Amour model) brought the swivel design to Nokia, the 7390 is a traditional flip phone. Granted, Nokia’s flip-phone gallery is still outweighed by its candy bar selection, but the 7390 succeeds in what it sets out to do. Available in two distinctive color schemes–powder pink and bronze black (we looked at the latter model)–the 7390 is without a doubt an eye-catching and stylish phone. Despite being a bit boxy, the bronze faceplate contrasts nicely with the phone’s overall dark color and we liked the swirled patterns etched into the front face. The leather-like square on the rear of phone is a nice touch too, but we continue to be divided on the little fabric tag that adorns all L’Amour models. Some think that it’s cool, while others think that it’s just unnecessary.
The lovely looks do come at a slight cost. At 3.5 inches long by 1.8 inches wide by 0.7 inch thick, the 7390 is a tad large as far as flip phones go, and its 4.0 ounces of weight is more than we expected. It still slips easy into a pocket and it’s comfortable to hold in the hand, but the rear flap is a tad weighty. On the upside, the 7390 has a sturdy construction.

Panasonic RP-HTX7

Tightness is not a problem with these phones because of the vinyl-wrapped metal headband. This is great because it’s impossible to overextend them–you just bend them back into shape with no trouble.  The Sheckler Signature model of these phones is the least expensive by at least 20 dollars when I bought it (maybe his sponsorship [...]

Sony DR-BT30Q
15 Mar 2010

A great idea or just another pointless use of wireless technology? I?ve spent a few months using the Sony DR-BT30Q stereo Bluetooth headphones, and thought it might be useful for some people for me to post my thoughts on this desirable gadget and my views on the technology behind it. A2DP, more commonly known as Bluetooth [...]

Sanyo Xacti VPC-CA6
15 Mar 2010

The VPC-CA6 is a an extremely small SD-card based video and still camera; our product review sample came in a box that proclaimed it was the “blue” variant (with a “red” and “silver” variant also available), but that’s a strange definer of the camera, as it’s actually only the bezel around the foldout LCD that [...]

Hitachi DZ-HS301

The Hitachi DZ-H303 already was announced in Japan a month ago. It looks like Hitachi is bringing the DZ-HS301 also to Europe soon and eventually to the United States. The Hitachi DZ-HS301 features a 15x optical zoom, 1MP still photos and a 2.7 widescreen LCD. The Hitachi DZ-HS303 sports a better CCD sensor and takes [...]

Canon ZR700
14 Mar 2010

The Canon ZR700 tops off the ZR series this year, which has undergone serious cosmetic changes, including a new joystick control. How does the ZR700 hope to distinguish itself? The differences from next step-down, the ZR600, are small but crucial, including the analog inputs. Combine this with a 30x optical zoom and solid low light [...]
