The Nokia N80 is a little cell phone, short and stout. In its closed state, the slider phone measures 3.7 by 1.9 by 1.0 inches and weighs 4.7 ounces. Though the form factor is compact, it’s on the thicker side, so it’ll make for a tight fit in a pants pocket. Despite the bulk, it’s comfortable–though a little slippery–to hold in the hand, and its all-black case is attractive; the phone is available in stainless steel as well.
The Nokia N80 has a beautiful 2.2-inch screen that boasts 262,144 hues at 325×416-pixel resolution. Colors pop, and text and images are extrasharp; it’s certainly one of the best cell phone displays we’ve seen to date. Below it you’ll find two soft keys, the Talk and End buttons, a four-way navigation toggle with a center select function, an edit key, a menu shortcut, a multimedia key, and a Clear button. For the most part, the controls are easy to use, but the toggle and the select button are a bit small, so you have to press them carefully.
The N80 is a 3G smartphone, so it benefits from a wide range of advanced software, plus excellent functionality and connectivity. However, it’s one of the most buggy and unstable phones around. Perhaps future firmware upgrades will fix these problems, but for now its an unreliable phone. Its also very slow, both to boot up and in operation.
The N80 has an advanced music player with support for playlists and easy access to your favourite music tracks. Audio quality is excellent and a stereo headset is included in the sales package. There’s plenty of space for storing music too - a 128 Mbyte memory card is included as standard, in addition to the 40 Mbytes of internal memory.
Nokia N80 has one of the best LCD displays, with a resolution of 352 x 416 pixels and boasting 262,144 colours. The 3 mega-pixel camera in the phone takes good pictures and has a 20x digital zoom and flash. However, the quality of photographs is no where near to the ones taken by Nokia N90. The phone has an advanced music player, which allows you to pick your favourite music track from a displayed play list. The audio quality of Nokia n80 is considered to be very good and the package includes a stereo headset. The phone comes with a 128 MB memory card, which is enough a storage space for your music files. It plays, MP3, AAC, m4a, eAAC+ and WMA format music tracks.
