Moving on, the N82 is of a comfortable size and the even weight distribution means we don’t have to worry about the phone slipping out of our hands. As for the choice (or lack) of colors, it’s a matter of personal opinion. We feel the metallic shade gives a very “bright” persona to the handset, but it also bears a tinge of industrial construction which may not appeal to everyone.

The Nokia N82 feels great in the hands. It is very solid and does not feel cheap or rushed to production. No loose parts or creaking sounds were noticed during my week of usage. Jeremiah feels exactly the same about the excellent build quality in as written in the Nokia User’s initial Nokia N82 impressions. Because of it’s width, smooth surface, and rounded corners, putting this phone in my pocket is also easy.

Aside from these generous connectivity options, the N82 also enjoys a wide set of multimedia features. Users can play music and watch videos, while a 5-megapixel camera with flash allows them to capture pictures and videos. The 3.5mm earphone jack means that the phone can accept standard earphones without the need for an adaptor. But by far the most useful feature of the N82 is its ability to connect to other gadgets, courtesy of the bundled component cable. This allows users to look at pictures, watch videos, and play music on HD TVs and stereos, sharing what they have with the entire room.

Between them lie the softkeys and S60 keys, with the d-pad and its center select button located in the middle. The softkeys and s60 keys are really just 2 rocker-style buttons. Pressing on the top half of the key gets the appropriate softkey function, while pressing on the lower half will trigger the S60 or “c” button. The reduced sized multimedia key is on the right, next to the “end” key and activates the new S60 multimedia menu, made up of panels with nice transition animations to facilitate a smooth look. The numeric keypad is quite different, with very small buttons that are each about the size of a grain of rice, with key labels printed directly above each button.
