The Nokia 7373 is an upgraded version of the 7370 from Nokia’s L’Amour series. It’s a visually stunning phone, available in a choice of colours - Powder Pink (pictured) and Bronze Black, with more masculine graphics. The 7373 has the same swivel design as the 7370. It’s a very compact phone when closed, and to open you flip the keypad sideways so that it rotates in your hand into the open position - cool! The surface finish of the phone is stunning, with elaborate, tooled surfaces and embossed finishing. One negative aspect is that the phone has to be opened in order to access the controls - other rotating or sliding phones usually have at least some navigation keys on the outside, so that the phone can be used when closed.

Swiveling the 7373 open, the display will automatically reorient itself so that the picture won’t be upside down. It can’t be swiveled 360 degrees, so if you swiveled it open clockwise, it will have to be closed counterclockwise. The keypad is white backlit and has a very nice feel to it. The 5-way navigational D-pad is flanked by both left and right softkeys, and Call and End keys. The keypad is set flush with the body but provides pretty good feedback. The keys are large enough to be comfortably pressed on. Hiding just behind the curved end of the top portion, you will find the 7373’s built-in stereo speakers.

As far as specifications are concerned, the 7373 is a mid-range handset. Its camera shoots at resolutions up to 2-megapixels, but images are less good than those obtained from other phones with this capability. Colour reproduction is a bit off at times, the lens doesn’t seem to let in a great deal of light for indoor photography and definition isn’t what it could be. But for simple snaps the phone performs adequately.
There is a music player, of course, and the 10MB of internal memory is supplemented by a microSD card slot. Sadly the slot is under the battery so there is no chance of quickly swapping cards to refresh the set of tunes you are carrying: the phone has to be powered down as part of that process. There is also an FM radio - a real plus point.

The phone comes with high quality imaging with the built in 2 megapixel camera feature complete with a 8 x digital zoom function. The user can take still photo, record video footage & playback video on their Nokia 7373. The phone comes with a dedicated camera button which is easy to access & allows the user to take a quick shot in an instant.
The phone comes with Bluetooth® technology which will connect the Nokia 7373 to any Bluetooth® compatible devices without the need for wires. The user can connect their phone to a Bluetooth® compatible printer, headset or laptop & enjoy a totally wirefree connection. The user will be able to transfer data & download files instantly & at high speed thanks to the built in EDGE technology. The phone comes with a WAP Internet browser which can view websites in either HTML or XHTML. The user can use their mobile Internet browser like they would their personal computers browser. The tri band technology works over GSM 900, GSM 1800 & GSM 1900 which will automatically switch between the three bands. The Nokia 7373 comes with a battery, charger & Nokia headset included in the kit which will get the user off to a great start.

Nokia 6300

6300.jpgVolume: 56 cc
Weight: 91 g
Length: 106.4 mm
Width: 43.6 mm
Thickness: 13.1 mm

Display: Main display: 2 inch 240 x 320 pixels (TFT) QVGA with up to 16.7 million true colors

Price range: $193.60 to $355.15

This is a small, light, candybar handset. Measuring 106mm x 43mm x 12mm and weighing 91g it doesn’t break any records, but it does feel comfortable in the hand and lightweight in the pocket; and that’s despite the fact that there is quite a lot of metal in the fascia.

Nokia’s slogan for the 6300 is “Simply beautiful - beautifully simple.” The beauty comes from the sleek, classic design with stainless-steel surfaces, and the simplicity reflects the fact that this is an all-round kind of phone: not a smartphone, not 3G, but including all of the functionality that most people want. Sounds like a winner! Could Nokia finally be getting back to what it used to do best - a phone that does just what you want and does it well?

The number pad is slightly squished into the bottom section of the phone, but its keys are pretty large nonetheless, and the squishing means there is room for a sizeable navigation button and well spaced softkeys, Call and End keys.

The screen is a bit small at just two inches corner to corner, but it displays 240 x 320 pixels and a massive 16.7 million colours, and as a result it is pin-sharp.

Certainly the phone looks good when you pick it up. It’s like the early 6-series Nokia’s: exclusive- and expensive-looking, practically designed with a good sized screen and functional keypad, yet updated for 2007 with a 5-way navigation button and high quality colour display. The size is perfect: it’s very slim (just 11.7mm) and not too wide, and the weight is enough to make it feel solid and substantial, but not so much that it feels heavy. The keypad is a decent size and is easy to use. The display is exceptional: a high resolution 240 x 320 pixel display with an amazing 16 million colours. On the outside the 6300 ticks all the right boxes.

The glossy plastic used in the 6300 is good; in fact it is similar to that found in Sony Ericsson T610i. Even though it draws scratches and finger-prints, they are not too prominent, unless you start examining it, of course. The metal is exposed to wear and tear as well – first grazes appear in a week’s time, but you won’t stumble upon them at first. Overall, all surfaces of this kind suffer from the same “illness” – Nokia N91 is not an exception with is battery cover.

Weighting only 94 grams, the 6300 fits in hands pretty well and can be carried in any desired fashion. The handset is easy to use, yet retains a number of shortcomings in ergonomics. In light of the face it makes use of dual-interface layout, on Sony Ericsson’s “advice”, dedicated volume keys have been moved to the right side in most phones. This proves to be handy when this key doubles as zoom-button in camera mode. However since Nokia 6300 houses only a single side-mounted key, specifically the volume rocker key, why would they need to relocate it to the right? To blindly follow up the trend? But it is not convenient, and due to being hard-to-push and placed quite deep inside the casing, this key won’t make the user very happy.

Key features:
Compact modern design featuring sophisticated stainless-steel covers, glossy black finish, and rounded edges
Reminder lights to quietly draw your attention to missed calls and unread messages

The first impression of the phone is that it is a bit bulky (thick), although it’s width and height are completely normal. The sliding mechanism works very well, it is really easy sliding the phone up and down without much effort. When exposed, the numeric keypad feels very solid and it’s very easy to type with it. On the right side of the phone you will find the miniSD slot, the speaker and the PTT button. This button can not be re-assigned for another action. On the right side, there is the Vol+/Vol- rocker button and the Camera button. At the bottom of the device you will find the pop-opt port (handsfree, USB) and the power port (same as in the E61 and N800). On the top of the device there is IrDA and the On/Off button that also brings up the profiles menu. Profiles supported are: General, Outdoors, meeting, Flight mode, Silent and two user modes.

The camera function can be used in the landscape mode which allows the user to access the dedicated zoom key & camera key easily like they would do on standard digital camera. The Nokia 6288 comes with a second camera which is used for the two way video calling feature. The second camera is a VGA camera which can be located on the front of the mobile handset. The user can have a face to face video call with any 3G video calling mobile phone users. The user can play & record high quality video footage on their phone which the user can share with others. The phone comes with a 3GPP video streaming feature which allows the user to enjoy live footage on their mobile phone.

Nokia 6280

6280.jpgWeight: 115 g

Display: Active matrix 262,144 color display (320 x 240 pixels)
3D generation Series 40 user interface

Price range: $320.31 - $603.12

Nokia 6280 features a significant number of functions, but lacks an operation system. It belongs to the category of the so called manager phones, it’s a high-class phone. It was primary presented in June last year and it hit the stores in the end of January. As you can see, in this case the preparation of the entire launch campaign has taken Nokia a bit longer than usual.
Nokia has created the 6280 model as a substitute for the famous Nokia 6230 and Nokia 6230i. In terms of functional equipment it will probably be an easy task to complete. The question, however, is whether the end users will put up with Nokia 6280’s sliding construction. Given the fact that a major part of the mobile users are still getting used to to clamshell phones, it seems s to be somewhat early for a mass success of the “sliders”. This makes me think that a lot of customers will rather go for Nokia 6233, which is still in process of development and is expected to hit the market in August, 2006.

On video streaming, the 6280 fared better but occasionally struggled with fast moving footage. More relaxed videos like news reports, film trailers and soap opera round-ups were presented efficiently but when it came to sports footage like Premiership goals, the images became peppered with digital blocking. You could still easily make out proceedings but it wasn’t as coherent as top 3G artists like the Sharp 903, Motorola V3x and Sony Ericsson W900i.
The Nokia 6280 also features a 2 Megapixel camera, snapping stills of good quality in daylight and of adequate quality in darker environments. Aiming to assimilate the functions of a dedicated camera, the phone’s display, which acts as a viewfinder, automatically switches to landscape mode when the camera is activated. Its various options are then easily adjusted by means of the action buttons and volume buttons, with the handset also offering video recording at a VGA resolution of 0.3 Megapixel and lower. Both stills and videos can quickly be added to MMS messages from within the camera application
When testing its built-in music player we were limited to one method because of the phone being an early production model. Normally with this handset you can use the PC software to transfer your digital music files onto the phone but we relied solely on 3’s full-track download service. Even so, the 6280 played the MP4 format (which is even more compressed than MP3 files and near CD quality) songs skilfully. The music player also offers equaliser settings like Rock, Pop, Jazz and Classical while you can manually set your own sound equaliser. Lodged in the side of the phone is a small speaker that actually pumps out some fine, voluminous audio whether listening to music, video audio or conversation during a video call.

Using the built-in music player, we were able to listen to MP3s and unprotected AACs (sorry, no WMAs), either stored on the 6280’s meagre 10MB of internal memory or on the hot-swappable 64MB miniSD card Nokia provides in the box. Although we managed to squeeze about 16 songs on the memory card, 64MB is hardly enough to use the handset as a portable video player, even though it supports 3GP with H.263 or MPEG video files (QCIF resolution), has the same resolution and can display more colours than the video-capable iPod. There’s also an FM radio tuner onboard, but this requires the supplied headset to be connected to act as an antenna.

Other applications pre-loaded on the 6280 include a Web browser, voice recorder, organiser, world clock, unit converter and three games — Golf Tour, Rally 3D and Snake IIII. Fans of the classic time-passing game Snake will be delighted to see Nokia has developed it into a 3D cartoon-like animated game that remains true to the original.

Nokia 6275i

6275i.jpgWeight: 3.70 oz
Dimensions: 4.29 x 1.68 x 0.677 inch

Display: Internal: 2,2″ 240×320 pixel, 16 million color primary display and 1,36″ 128×160 pixel 256k color secondary display

There’s no better way to make an impression than to have a slim, elegant figure - right in the palm of your hand. The Nokia 6275i CDMA phone combines form and function to make life’s myriad pursuits a reality. With a sleek, classy design, snap that perfect shot in landscape mode via the phone’s 2 megapixel camera with flash and 4x digital zoom. Next, view your vivid image taken on the large QVGA display in 262,144 colors. Get aural pleasure too from the Integrated FM radio and music player. If a svelte companion is what you’re looking for, start turning your eyes on the Nokia 6275i CDMA phone.

With a high-resolution 262K-color 240 x 320 px QVGA screen and framed by a real stainless steel accent band, the Nokia 6275i immediately captures the eye. However, what sets the 6275i apart is what is found inside. Along with Bluetooth wireless technology and a 2.0-megapixel camera with flash and video capture capability, the 6275i features a built-in digital music player and support for up to a 2 GB microSD memory card. Supporting a wide variety of music formats - including MP3, AAC and eAAC+, the 6275i can hold up to thousands of music files on an optional 2 GB memory card.

Low light performance is pretty good. The 6275i can boost the signal so that you can see the subject you’re taking though it will be extremely noisy. There is a built-in music play. It doesn’t let you sort your music by artist, album, genre, etc. so things can get messy if you have a lot of music. An equalizer is included so you can customize the music to your taste. Please remember the 6275i doesn’t come with a memory card or headphones so you’ll need those if you want to listen to music.

You will need compatible headphones if you plan on using the built-in FM radio since they act as an antenna. Either pop port or 2.5mm headphones will work with the radio.
